About the Artist
Born in Dubrovnik, Croatia, Nadalena Radis-Cobbs grew up amidst ancient fortresses, weathered stone architecture, cobblestone streets and the stunning Adriatic Sea. Nadalena lived in Dubrovnik in 1991 during the war for Croatia’s independence. Living through and experiencing firsthand the destruction and travesty of the war gave Nadalena even more appreciation for beaty and art.
Nadalena’s first art exhibition was in 1984 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. More recently, traveling to many places throughout Europe and United States has given Nadalena the opportunity to understand and incorporate her experience of the translucent world of the water, majestic land, and everchanging sky. Experiences such as sailing in the Pacific Ocean, swimming in the Adriatic Sea, kayaking in Idaho and backpacking in California have exposed her to the overwhelming beauty of nature. Her intention as an artist is to share these visual and emotional experiences with others through her painting.
“My paintings come from my daily life; they express my connection with world around me.”
In 2002, while living in Northern California, Nadalena became a fulltime artist. Soon thereafter her artwork was displayed and for sale in art multiple galleries in Carmel, California as well as in select locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Today, Nadalena lives in Southern California and specializes in original Plein Air paintings and studio paintings of California, Croatia, coastal scenes, landscapes, and historical architecture. She also enjoys making mix media paintings. Over the years countless pieces of Nadalena’s artwork have been purchased by lovers of art, investors, and private collectors.
Nadalena is a member of Laguna Art-A-Fair (LAAF),Laguna Plein Air Painters (LPAPA), California art Club (CAC), Southern California Plein Air Painters Association (SOCALPAPA), Dana Point Fine Art Association (DPFAA), and Tustin Art League (TAL).
